Hi, my name is Jake Stien. I am an avid outdoorsman that loves to bow hunt and be in the timber.  I am 28 years old, married, and have a baby boy on the way!

My wife Katie and I

I grew up on a corn and soybean farm in eastern Iowa and was actively involved in 4-H and FFA livestock projects showing at local, county, and state shows growing up.  I graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Agriculture Studies and a minor in Agronomy.  Katie and I like to spend a majority of our weekends in the spring, summer, and fall at LJS Lodge outside of Albia, IA.  Katie’s parents own and operate the lodge, and we get to help manage, guide, and hunt the property.  I love being able to help manage a property, whether it’s putting out mineral stations or trimming shooting lanes and hanging stands, I love anything to do with hunting whitetails! I also love the technical aspect of archery.  All the new products that are released each year get me excited.  Archery is one of the few industries that has companies push the envelope each year to produce some great engineering marvels.  Archery is an awesome sport to be a part of! I am addicted to bowhunting.  There are very few feelings better than sitting in a stand and hunting the big buck you have been after all year.  I have been lucky enough to put down a couple nice whitetails over the past few years.

I have learned a lot managing and hunting a property over the past five years.  This blog is meant to share everything I have learned and keep learning from hunting mature whitetails in Southern Iowa. Please feel free to comment, share, and follow this blog.  Shoot often and shoot straight…….. Jake Stien
